Acaye Derrick is twelve years old studying at Negri Primary School in the P4 class. He really enjoys science and playing football. After finishing primary school he hopes to attend Gulu High School, where his brother Jerome studies. When Acaye Derrick grows up he wants to study at Gulu University to become a lawyer.
Acaye Stephen is sixteen years old and in the P5 class at Negri Primary. He plays football in his spare time and enjoys his studies very much. He hopes to go to school in Kampala one day and become a driver when he grows up.
Agik Joan is eighteen years old and studies in the S4 class at Saint Lawrence Citizen High School. Her favorite academic subject is literature. Joan loves the novel Romeo and Juliet from
Shakespeare. When Joan is not studying she works in a catering company. She also participates in her school’s music, dance and drama group. Her group competes against other schools and consistently comes out in the top three schools. Joan can play a great game of football (soccer) and likes to hip hop dance. Joan said, “I am most proud of our group’s success at the music and dance competition and of my friends.” Next year in school she plans to start focusing on history, economics, literature and divinity. Eventually, Joan hopes to study law at Makere University. Joan told us she is most grateful for her friends and the people who love her. She believes education can bring peace to the country and said, “I want all children who have to drop out of school to have opportunities.” She also wanted to share a message with all the members of Invisible Conflicts who work together to fund her education: “I love all of you so much and I hope to join you someday.”
Akwero Sharon is a twelve year old student in the P5 class at Mary Immaculate Primary School. Sharon’s smile shines with a contagious compassion and energy. Her favorite subjects in school are math and English. In her spare time she practices traditional African dance and plays traditional instruments. She is also very active and plays football, netball and softball for fun. In the next school year Sharon aims to improve her English, perfect her cursive writing, and learn to draw. She also hopes to attend university after completing secondary school. Sharon expressed to the members of Invisible Conflicts, “I feel happy in school and grateful for my school fees.”
Apio Racheal is the youngest beneficiary of the Dwon Madiki Partnership at eight years old. She is in the P2 class at Mary Immaculate Primary School. Racheal enjoys English class, especially reading and writing. She also likes to play dodgeball and traditional dance. Racheal dreams of becoming a nurse so she can administer medicine to sick people. Racheal expressed, “I like school. Please keep paying for me so I can pass and become bright.”
Apiyo Janet is studying at Mary Immaculate Primary School where her favorite subject is social studies. She enjoys playing games like netball and kickball. When she grows up she wants to be a bank manager.
Atim Sharon is a 16 year old student in the Senior 3 class at Graceland Secondary School. She is very intelligent and gifted in math, physics and chemistry. Sharon has won many awards for her academic success. She also shines on the field playing rugby, netball and football in school tournaments. Sharon participates in drama and music in her leisure time. In her next level of secondary school Sharon plans to study physics, economics, math and geography. She hopes to attend either Gulu University of Makere University to fulfill her dream of becoming a doctor or engineer. Sharon is very grateful to each person who helps these dreams become realities with their donations, time and energy. She expressed, “I thank them for helping us, for bringing us scholastic material and paying our school fees because I know when they were not paying for us things were dark and our lives really changed when they started paying for us. And I thank them for continuing to help until we finish our studies and after we finish our studies we can help other people who are struggling, who are younger like us.”
Komakech Jimmy is sixteen years old studying in the P4 class at Negri Primary School. He is interested in science. Jimmy is a wonderful athlete and plays football and runs in his school’s relay team. This June his relay team won their regional athletics competition. Jimmy wants to attend Saint Barnabus Secondary School when he finishes at Negri Primary because the school has a good sport and science program. He also hopes to continue playing football and become a football player! —
Komakech Richard is a thirteen year old student at Negri Primary School. His favorite academic subject is science. In his free time he likes to listen to music and play volleyball. He wants to be a driver when he grows up.
Komakech Robert is a twelve year old student at Negri Primary in the P4 class. He loves science class and playing football. However, he has a unique talent in music. He plays the xylophone and can rap any popular Ugandan song! He would like to study law after secondary school.
Lamunu Brenda is in the P6 class at Mary Immaculate Primary School. Her best subjects in school are English, math, social studies, and science. In her free time she sings in the choir and plays netball, badminton and football. Brenda performed in the regional dance competition in the traditional and creative categories. She also plays a traditional African instrument called the adungu. Brenda has aspirations of becoming a doctor.
Okema James is in theP3 class at Negri Primary School where he enjoys studying math. James is a football player and a fan of Manchester United. He can also throw a mean Frisbee! When he grows up, James wants to be a policeman.
Oketa Wilfred is an energetic 14 year old studying in the P4 class at Negri Primary School. His favorite subject in school is math. In his free time Wilfred can be found on the soccer field or the dance floor. He has a passion for taking care of farm animals, especially cows, and hopes to become a veterinarian.
Okot Ivan Jerome is fourteen years old and in the S2 class at Gulu High School. He particularly enjoys technical drawing classes. He is an avid football fan and roots for the Arsenal team. His favorite music is hip hop and especially likes Lil’ Wayne. In the next level of his Secondary School education he will focus on economics, math and physics. He hopes his talent in drawing houses will result in a career as an architect or engineer.
Oroma Beatrice studies in the P7 class at Mary Immaculate Primary School. She has a sassy, witty personality and is very mature. Her favorite school subject is English. In her spare time she plays net ball and listens to traditional music with her friends. After completing primary school Beatrice wants to specialize in English at Sacred Heart Secondary School. Ultimately, Beatrice dreams of becoming a nurse.
Tu-ape Paul is studying at Negri Primary School. His favorite subject is Social Studies and he plays football in his free time. He also plays a traditional African instrument called, rigi rigi. Paul expressed his gratefulness to all the members of Invisible Conflicts, “I would first like to thank them and wish them good luck.”
Warom Bosco is a friendly 14 year old studying in the P7 class at Lacor Primary School. He is talented in science and English and hopes to improve his math skills. Warom Bosco enjoys farming at his home; he especially enjoys growing farm beans and sweet potatoes. Next year he hopes to study English at Negri College. Warom dreams of being an English teacher.

Lakareber Teddy is seventeen years old and was a student at Mary Immaculate Primary School and Keyo Secondary School. where her favorite subject was English. Teddy enjoys running in her spare time.
